One week to go

The one-week countdown has begun for our family. In one week we will be in the air, flying through Toronto to Frankfurt, Germany, and then after a lay-over of a few hours, on to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We leave at 7 a.m. on Friday, 1 May from Vancouver and arrive in Addis Ababa 6 p.m., 2 May (around 8 a.m. Abbotsford time -- 25 hours in all). Someone from the Meserete Kristos College will pick us up and drive us to what will be our home for the next two months. The last leg of the trip should only be around 30-45 minutes.

The Meserete Kristos College is a Mennonite Bible college in Debre Zeit, a city located to the south of Addis Ababa. They have been working hard at developing their library over the past few years, and so I (Richard) will be assisting them as they continue to process donations and organize the library. We will be living on the college campus in guest housing. Karen will be helping the boys finish off their school work for the year and volunteering in several orphanages in the vicinity.
