As I become better acquainted with some of the students at the College, I am impressed by the depth of their commitment to faith in Christ and their willingness to make significant sacrifices for their faith. There is a young woman studying here named Karima whose entire family has disowned her because of her decision to become a Christian. Another woman who works in the library with Richard has burn scars all over her face where her parents thrust her head into burning coals in an attempt to make her give up her new faith in Jesus. Many of the students study here at the College for four years and in that time they will only have the opportunity to see their families a few times annually since they come from places far removed from DZ. And yet, the students feel so privileged to be able to study here as they prepare to eventually return to their home towns as church leaders.
We did some pretty serious home schooling today since we will not do any tomorrow because we are spending the day in Addis. The boys also did some work at the construction site for the boy’s dorm that is being built and helped out in the library in the afternoon. My day was occupied with doing laundry which is an arduous and time consuming task.
