We said good bye to Ernie and Lois and Carl and Vera this morning since they are both heading back to North America for the summer today. By 8 am, Fanosie and Dianne and our family were off to Lake Langano. Danny the driver is driving us in his taxi and staying with us for the three days since we don’t have access to another vehicle.
We arrived by noon to the Bekele Mola Hotel right on the shore of Lake Langano. It’s not a fancy resort but is one preferred by the locals since it is much less expensive than the fancier lodges that are frequented by the tourists. The location is beautiful but the lodging rather humble. We spent the afternoon in the lake which is a very dark brown colour but apparently one of the few lakes in Ethiopia that it is safe to swim in. For dinner, we went to the fancier tourist hotel about 20 minutes away. It’s an absolutely beautiful place, owned by the same owners of the Blue Tops Restaurant in Addis, where we have eaten twice. The restaurant even serves ice cream! We may go back there tomorrow and have lunch and swim on their beach since they have a slide and diving board etc. I’m not sure how the night will go since these beds have some pretty obvious springs sticking out of them.
