After getting our school work done first thing in the morning, we spent the balance of the day at the library. We put in our time moving books for several hours and then Lorraine and I were asked to open the College bookstore. So with almost no orientation, we became the managers and operators of the bookstore! (This was Vera’s job but she is gone until November.) As well as assisting the students and handling the financial transactions, we are also going through boxes of books rejected by the library and pricing them for sale. Not sure we did everything right but definitely did things.
Tomorrow will be a shorter day of volunteering since we are going into Addis in the afternoon to do some business and grocery shopping. This Friday we leave for our weekend trip to Arbiminch. It’s been gratifying to have the opportunity to see so much of Ethiopia. We are discovering that many people who have lived in Ethiopia their entire lives have had little opportunity to visit their own country and see the things that we’ve seen in these few short months.
