If any of you know Richard and his history with libraries, you will know that he has moved entire libraries, twice! The first time was when the entire 40,000 volume library at Concord College was packed up and moved to the new CMU campus, and the second time was when CBC got new library shelves last summer. So, true to form, Richard has dreamed up another excuse to move a library. Today we started a really big project in the library that involves shifting a huge part of the collection to different shelves in the library. With all the books we’ve added as well as some that have been moved out of the reference section, we need to add fifty new shelves within the collection. So that means lots of careful moving of books so that we don’t mess up the order. My goal is to get the kids to do most of the lifting and I will do the organizational part. A new couple named John and Lorraine Peters from Ontario have arrived and Lorraine is going to help out in the library for a few weeks while John teaches his course. She will probably be in charge of washing the shelves and cleaning all the books we move since they are incredibly dusty.
Classes started again today and it was good to see some familiar faces around as well as plenty of new ones. John Peters is teaching a Cultural Anthropology class and so suddenly we are experts on Western Culture and are being interviewed regularly by the students on all sorts of aspects of culture back in Canada. It’s a good way to build relationships.
