June 9, 2009 -- posted by Karen

We did one last, major hike with Ernie and Lois this morning before they head home tomorrow. We climbed the hill behind our house that overlooks Hora Lake and then climbed down to the lake with the goal of seeing how far we could hike around the lake. It was pretty much wilderness mountain hiking since there really wasn’t a consistent trail and we had to get over some pretty major obstacles. The highlight for Richard was seeing some pretty amazing birds that he hadn’t sighted elsewhere. We even saw an entire tree just filled with white pelicans. We hiked for a little over two hours and made it about half way around the lake until we bumped into civilization again and took a bajaj home since we were all pretty exhausted from the climb. I’m quite impressed with Ernie and Lois. They are both in their late 60’s and are in absolutely amazing shape. We can’t keep up with them!

The rest of the day was school work and laundry, trying to get ready for our few days away to Lake Langano with Dianne and Fanosie tomorrow.
