June 12, 2009 -- posted by Karen

We had another early morning swim (no hippo this time!) and then packed up and headed for home. On the way we stopped at a much more posh resort hotel on Lake Langano and spent some time on their beach. They had kayaks available for their guests and Isaac especially enjoyed them. They also had a slide out in the water and lots of other amenities. We had expected that their clientele would be predominantly farenji (foreigners) but were surprised that most of the guests appeared to be Ethiopian. It would have been a great place to stay but at twice the cost. We all had a great time on the beach since it was one of the warmer days we’ve had here. Several of us didn’t use enough sun screen! Richard only put sunscreen on his shoulders and chest, so his lower half is pretty red today.

The drive back was rather long with several accidents along the way. Driving is such an intense experience out here. You can never relax because there is always some animal wandering out on to the road in front of you or else oncoming traffic that has decided to use your lane for awhile. Both Abram and Isaac have been feeling ill today and we had to pull over for them to throw up on the side of the road. We think it may be the malaria pills we’ve been taking for the past few days. It feels good to be home and we are all looking forward to sleeping in real beds again.
