Life here on campus is very quiet these days. The students have been gone for this past week and the kitchen workers have been on a well earned holiday. It’s just been the guards, the gardener and the few guesthouse residents that remain. New students will begin arriving tomorrow for the rainy season session (mid June to the end of Aug.) These are students who are working at the graduate level. Most of them are already pastors who take the rainy season months off to continue their education.
I am personally pleased that the rainy season has not yet arrived. In fact, yesterday was one of the warmest days we’ve had here yet. The temperature usually hovers around 80 degrees and is quite comfortable since there is typically a fairly strong wind blowing but yesterday was significantly warmer. It was a little tough for the kids since it was too hot to be outside until the later afternoon. Since the sun goes down about 6:30 pm that doesn’t leave a lot of time to enjoy the cooler temperatures outside.
We spent the day doing laundry etc from our few days away at Lake Langano. Abram had a big project that he needed to finish for school and send off. On the way home from Langano, we drove through an area of the country where they actually grow strawberries. This evening we had crepes with fresh strawberries which was a real treat.
